Haunted Palouse is a fundraising event that takes place near Halloween in the small town of Palouse, WA. It centers around haunted attractions organized by the community and is an event locals look forward to every year.
They typically don’t invest in a lot of advertising and they don’t have a set brand identity since the event is so small scale. As a fan of Haunted Palouse, I decided to apply my design knowledge to the task of creating some marketing tools and merchandise designs.
Since social media and word-of-mouth are the two main forms of advertising for Haunted Palouse, I decided to create what would be an effective Instagram account to promote the event.
My strategy was to pair recognizable colors and fonts with characters who represent the event. I also included all of the necessary details in each of the designed posts so viewer’s could find information quickly.
To ensure that the entire page would be cohesive, I designed a profile picture and some story highlight icons as well.
Once I finished the social media designs, I decided to use those assets to create a little bit of merch!
I brought the wordmark into Photoshop and applied some grungy filters to it. I also incorporated a photo of a ‘zombie cowboy’ Halloween costume because it fit with the western gothic theme.
I used the skull logo to create a cute, simple sweatshirt design as well. Then I designed some stickers to match!
